Cycle 2 – week 6… “Forging a new way to do things…isn’t easy…Why?”

October 16, 2018

|

Karen Lord

Taking part in prototype is a great way to test new thinking and different concepts.

The focus we have for the 45days was to test Change Agency behaviours (the ones that help us find the new S curve / Paradigm). This has given me the opportunity to push into new areas that I have not done before. Over the last week I have been attempting to create some content for the website that works at the mindset levels and engages the heart. This has been very challenging, yet hugely insightful taking me definitely outside my comfort zone.

As with all things it is good to get fee...

Cycle 2 – week 5… “Connecting the Dots …”

October 6, 2018

Karen Lord

2hrs of focused energy, with tangible Change Agency actions.

This was our 2nd event and we were joined by a couple of new people who added great value to the conversation, that was both thought-provoking and inspiring. Through enriching the dialogue, we shared new and different perspectives, which took us all to new and exciting possibilities that we were able to turn into actions for the next few weeks.

Being expertly facilitated through this process is absolutely essential, yet this is not the usual facilitation, it is incredibly direct, transparent, deep and structu...

Cycle 1 – week 4… “Failure is only available to those who are invested in being right”….is a key learning

September 26, 2018

|

Karen Lord

The key learning is merging (for me) during this 1stcycle…

  • Accuracy of the data– has enabled some very clear, open and direct dialogue with ease

  • Choices- I am making new and highly productive connections through my learning. I am making clearer decisions with much greater clarity (pivoting at the pace of emergence).

  • Mindset & Culture(although within us and all around us) is largely invisible for people to see – the insights around unconscious bias and cognitive dissonance is profound. It like you suddenly have a pair of X-ray spectacles that cut right th...

Cycle 1 – week 3… “what are we prototyping?”…and how can we use this to help us work in the area of Mindset & Culture

September 24, 2018

|

Karen Lord

Prototyping is a much-used word in the world of innovation. From cars to gaming, from housing to energy systems, it is a way of testing something ‘original’ and different from the prevailing paradigm. To find the new next thing…

This week I have been thinking about what this means to me and what we are attempting to do (our focus is on working with Mindset & Culture). For me this is about re-invention or renewal of the FCA community to become a global innovation influencer.  I passionately want to create a thriving, diverse and vibrant community, where people test, lear...

Cycle 1 – week 2… “if you always do, what you’ve always done”…learning how to disrupt ourselves?

September 20, 2018

|

Karen Lord

I must say working with this is challenging…it takes courage to let-go of my ‘old’ thinking and learn a new way to engage differently. This approach really does hold up the unconscious bias mirror! What is now evident to me is both very thrilling and daunting is equal measure.

Starting to work with Archetypes can feel initially odd, like you already know them yet not how to apply them. Working with them is quite remarkable, as they enabled me to hold some very focused ‘Mindset’ conversations whilst working on projects. The realisations are emerging super-fast. We have b...

Cycle 1 – week 1… an inside view

September 14, 2018

|

Karen Lord

FCA 45-day Prototype (Week 1) has been a real eye opener for me. The data (Cultural Report, Profiles and our virtual event 1) has been amazingly accurate at mapping the disconnect in Mindset and Culture, which has begun to illuminate the unconscious biases with great speed. For my part, I think we are intuitively aware of some of them but have been unable to articulate them and therefore they have remained undiscussable. Now they are visibly emerging, there is a real chance for systematic dialogue and a much deeper level than ever before.

To hold this conversation withi...

A pioneering journey - Learning from future

September 7, 2018

|

Karen Lord

We all know that the world is changing faster than ever, but is it changing for the better? This is a question the FCA is asking itself. Through our membership and associations the FCA has site of a wide range of innovations challenges in different sectors and countries. We were curious how people were experiencing these apparently different challenges. Passionate about adding value to innovation practice we asked all the participants from the Spring 2018 Summit “what was their biggest challenge for making innovative progress”?

We were delighted with the rich dialogue,...

The first Expansive Conversation of FCA

February 24, 2015

Exapansive Covnersations are inspirational, fun and thought provoking conversations between people who are curious about learning to improve the human experience of innovation and solving complex problems. They have a common passion for finding the human Meta patterns for making successful progress. They are rather unstructured and spontaneous, as the participants share their different perspectives and seek the illusive connections between them.

Utrecht February 2015

Why are certain people able to see different pathways to achieving successful solutions? What value do...
