2hrs of focused energy, with tangible Change Agency actions.
This was our 2nd event and we were joined by a couple of new people who added great value to the conversation, that was both thought-provoking and inspiring. Through enriching the dialogue, we shared new and different perspectives, which took us all to new and exciting possibilities that we were able to turn into actions for the next few weeks.
Being expertly facilitated through this process is absolutely essential, yet this is not the usual facilitation, it is incredibly direct, transparent, deep and structured. Helping us to see what we are doing and creating. We began by exploring 3 simple questions…
What have we done differently?– a very simple question? Yet we are all very busy doing what we have always done…and expect a different result! Deep down I know that if I need a different result I can only achieve this by pushing myself into new territory. The results from cycle 1 showed me that we are still largely operating in the current paradigm. The real treasure was to see this after only a few short weeks (cycle 1)…applying Change Agency is priceless.
What is emerging? – well quite a bit of reengineering, refreshing, redefining…and maybe this is needed. And we also need to explore the emerging frontier by using more of what is available to us. Some might see this as discomfort, others do not see it all, whilst some have a hunger for curiosity. This is a familiar dilemma…to be creative takes courage and the willingness to experiment; all of which can leave us open to become vulnerable – as the new paradigm struggles to gain legitimacy. The questions asked were beautifully simple yet profound. I was so excited to share fresh and different perspectives in a focused context. I absolutely can see the value that diversity brings thanks to the new people who joined us.
What have we learnt? – it is all about learning! Experimenting, testing and reviewing is the most important aspect of the prototype so far. The speed has been tremendous, the energy has raised and most importantly to engage and see different perspectives.
A profound shift ahead?!
Cycle 2 is now set for a profound shift and it is a conscious choice…we can either choose to remain with old patterns of behaviours and results or we move into experimentation (test new behaviours) and risk creating something truly new – the new paradigm. I for 1 will move into the unknown out of curiosity.
Easy to say but this appears to be a real challenge to do…what drives me forward is asking myself this simple question…
“Am I/we achieving the result we want to experience?….No.
Then I/we only have 1 course of action… chose to change our strategy and do things differently.
